Dee Airey

Wedding & Studio Portrait Photography based in Tunbridge Wells

Dee has always been creative in her thinking and always knew she wanted to be self-employed and self-sufficient. So much so, that she paid no attention at school until they asked her nicely to leave.

She was thrilled because it meant she could go to college and achieve her Diploma in Business Studies, a subject she had her eye on since about the age of 14.

By the time Dee left college at 17 years old, she had just one qualification – a Business Studies Diploma, but that was all that mattered to her.

Even though starting out her working life as an office junior, she never took her eye off the prize, that prize being self-employment, running a business and being accountable for her own career destiny.

Dee started her dream by 26 years old and entered the world of self-employment.

Now at 55 years old, Dee has more energy than ever. She is a senior Director and co-owner of a construction company, and is one of very few females in the UK holding such a position in this industry.

After starting her photography business 10 years ago, she has won an IBAK New Business Award, been featured on the front cover of two regional wedding magazines, and has authored her first book.

More recently Dee has opened up her wedding photography and family portrait studio – the first of its kind on the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. She is so passionate about taking charge and people working for themselves that she also runs an online business coaching group of around 500 photographers worldwide who are starting up their own photography businesses. Boredom doesn’t stand a chance with Dee because she’s too busy doing everything she loves.

Denise Hamilton

Chief Corporate Affairs & Communications Officer at Childrensalon

Denise Hamilton is currently Chief Corporate Affairs and Communications Officer at Childrensalon, the largest online store for luxury childrenswear – offering over 270 of the world’s most desirable brands; including Gucci, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga and Balmain to customers in 160 countries with an impressive growth rate of over 27% in the last 4 years. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism she entered Macy’s training program in New York and has had a career spanning 30+ years with employers such as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, May Company and Target in New York, Saint Louis and London.

Denise discovered Childrensalon whilst shopping for her 4 year-old daughter on Tunbridge Wells High Street in 2010. ‘I absolutely fell in love with the company. I remember meeting Michele Harriman-Smith, one of the company’s founders and letting her know I would be happy to do anything as I just wanted to be a part of what I thought was such an amazing company and culture. I initially started part-time working anywhere they needed help and I never looked back.’  Denise took on different roles as she progressed at Childrensalon ranging from the product copy team to heading up their new human resource department. In 2018 she was promoted to Chief Corporate Affairs and Communications Officer and now handles all aspects of people, corporate communications and CSR for the company and sits on it’s Leadership Team and Charity Committee.

We’re planning a great event and a chance to build connections with other like-minded women both locally and further afield.
